Platform Update Week 42

Release Date October 11 2024

This release adds support for PayPal vaulting to enable management of recurring donations with PayPal via the Hub platform.

About this update

Please note the following about this about:

  • For Swiss organisations, PayPal needs to manually enable vaulting on their side. Please create a ticket with RaiseNow Support.
  • You need to upgrade to the latest Tamaro release. Request the upgrade via RaiseNow support.
  • For customers that connected the RaiseNow Hub to PayPal before February 2024, you need to follow the process below to reconnect PayPal.

PayPal Vaulting for Recurring Payments

PayPal vaulting technology allows storing payment information in a PCI compliant manner, directly with PayPal. RaiseNow receives a token for the payment method that can be used to execute future charges. This enables the RaiseNow platform to take full control of future charges for recurring donations, and by extension provides this functionality to our customers via the RaiseNow Hub and the RaiseNow API. We have worked closely with PayPal in a pilot project over the course of 2024 to provide this functionality in the fundraising space in the European market.

Providing this level of control over recurring charges is essential for extending functionality such as dunning for RaiseNow subscriptions, self-service capabilities and or agent driven modifications to RaiseNow subscriptions through our CRM integrations and custom API integrations.

Reconnect PayPal

Warning

Before starting the process, be sure you are fully onboarded with PayPal and have no outstanding document verifications pending with PayPal. PayPal will not allow you to complete the below process if verification steps are still incomplete.

You only need to follow this process if you connected PayPal to RaiseNow before February 2024. You will also be informed directly via Email if that is the case. When in doubt, you can request this information from RaiseNow support.

To reconnect PayPal visit the payment provider page in RaiseNow Hub.

  • On the PayPal "Details" link, make a note of the currently selected email address. Then, select disconnect and confirm.
  • After a page refresh, click the "Connect button" for PayPal and go through the process.
  • Once you have successfully reconnected PayPal, re-activate your solutions in RaiseNow Hub.
